Booker T. Jones, the renowned guiding light of modern soul music and headliner of the legendary band Booker T & the M.G.s, will take the stage at Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015. Doors open at 7pm with Maui’s own WAVETRAIN getting the good vibes started at 7:30pm.
Tickets go on-sale this Friday, Sept. 25 at 10am with prices ranging from $20 to $60. But a $10 discount will be applied to all ticket purchases made prior to Friday, Oct. 2, 2015. During this early bird discount period, a ticket can be purchased for as little as $10, making this historic concert affordable to everyone.
Over his more than 50-year career, Booker T. Jones has accomplished virtually everything in music, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Rock and Roll Hall Fame, Musicians Hall of Fame and 2010 and 2012 Grammy Awards for Best Pop Instrumental Album. Yet this will be the first time that Booker T performs on Maui with his five-piece band. The band will feature Booker T on both the Hammond B-3 organ and guitar, Jeremy Curtis (bass), Darian Gray (drums), Vernon Black (guitar) and Ted Jones–Booker T’s son (guitar).
“I am thrilled that Maui residents at last have a chance to connect with Booker T on their home shores–in one of our state’s best theaters no less,” said Mark Tarone, a co-producer of the event. “With Booker T’s exceptional roots music, warm heart and close connections with Willie Nelson, I’m sure Maui residents will view him as family as soon as the first few notes roll out of his vintage Hammond B-3.”
