The new movie executive produced by Maui filmmaker Kenneth K Martinez Burgmaier, 2307 Winter’s Dream, recently won Best Action Film at the 42nd annual Boston Science Fiction Film Festival. The award was the sixth win for the dystopian sci-fi, which was written and directed by Joey Curtis and produced by Burgmaier and Robert Beaumont. Burgmaier is one of the film’s executive producers.
The movie is set in 2307, in what was formerly Arizona. The Earth has frozen over and is virtually uninhabitable. The remaining humans must live underground to survive the sub-arctic temperatures. With no “man power” scientists bio-engineer Humanoids. But one “noid” goes rogue, escapes from captivity and threatens to lead a rebellion against mankind.
2307 Winter’s Dream also has won awards at five film festivals including fests in LA, NY and Florida. It also screened twice at the Cannes Festival Du Film Marche.
Burgmaier is an award-winning filmmaker, director/producer at HawaiiONTV.com, TV Host, Actor, and Music and Film Festival Promoter at Jazz Alley TV. He is known for 2001’s KiHo Alu-Keola Beamer and 2010’s Massacre at Kaupoa Beach.
Curtis co-wrote the script for Blue Valentine, starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams. He made his directorial debut with Quattro Noza, which was produced by Burgmaier; Quattro Noza was awarded for excellence in cinematography at the Sundance Film Festival.
Beaumont’s producing projects include Emelie, staring Sara Bolger, and Helen Hunt’s surfing drama Ride.
