Dear under 21-ers: OMG. I, like, totally hope you know how lucky you are. In fact, as I write this, clinging to my made-up memories of an adolescence I was deprived of, I’m starting to feel increasingly resentful of your good fortune. Until The Underground came along, when in Maui’s history have we had a late-night club where younguns could go? (No. The Fun Factory doesn’t count.) Not in my memory—which, to you, is ancient—that’s for sure. On Friday—while you get hip to MOTH, plus Entity Awakened—you not only have the chance to party (somewhat) like big kids do, but to learn the finer skills of social funambulism without the inhibitions of inebriation. Enjoy your forced sobriety because: (1) it’s good for you; and (2) you’ll be permanently kicked out of The Underground if you break the law/house rules. You wouldn’t want that when the party continues on Saturday with DJ Blast, plus every Friday and Saturday forthcoming. So don your dope threads (or whatever you crazy kids are calling it these days) and have a great time. Because you deserve it—once you’ve finished your homework. 357-5227, chilltown.com, lovelighthawaii.com P.S. Dear Grownups: Here’s your Pick: A classy Supper Club night with Paula Fuga, Mike Love and Sam Ites at Stella Blues in Kihei on Friday. Tip for the uninitiated: practice your biggest grins and bring a hankie to catch the joydrops. 874-3779, stellablues.com
Friday & Saturday (January 14 & 15), 8pm, The Underground, Lahaina, $10
