Mmm. So many fine entertainment choices this week! Whatever your fancy, there’s a fo’ shua show for you on Saturday (August 7). Originally scheduled for late July, the long-awaited Maui Celebrity Series Mos Def concert dawns (though the postponement was at least good news for fans who needed more time to save up mullah for the tickets). There will most definitely be a fair amount of boogieing, so if you go so far as to follow Mos’s co-starring role in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and want to bring a towel to mop up your sweat, you’ll likely make friends instead of being made fun of. [9:30pm, Maui Theatre, Lahaina, $55 / $75 / $125, mauicelebrityseries.com] If you’re looking for lightning licks rather than the spit of rhymes, check out Moth at Stella Blues. Joining this progressive pair (they’re a two man band, but close your eyes and their huge sound is wildly deceptive) will be Order of the White Rose (cute, but not from Connecticut) and Owaila. [10pm, Stella Blues, Kihei, $7, stellablues.com / 874-3779] Also masterful, albeit more mellow, is Musical Voices Maui’s presentation of the Mozart Requiem. It’s the first-ever Summer Masterworks Festival, and under the direction of Robert E. Wills the 62-member chorale and 25-piece orchestra are sure to delight. [7pm, Kihei Baptist Chapel, $15, info@musicalvoicesmaui.org / 270-3066]
