[CLASSICAL] Joannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart was born in Salzburg on Jan. 27, 1756—that makes him an Aquarius! Oh, and of course, he’s also one of the most important composers of European classical music in history. In fact, the Italian composer Rossini once noted of Mozart, “He is the only musician who had as much knowledge as genius, and as much genius as knowledge.” And he was only 35 when he died. Anyway, this year marks his 250th birthday. In honor, the Galliard String Quartet from Chamber Music Hawaii, as well as the Maui Concert Chorus and Maui Youth Chorus, a chamber ensemble of local musicians, and sopranos Lisa Paulson and Vania Jerome will perform the ambitious Mass that Mozart composed for his wife. St. Theresa Church is located at 25 W. Lipoa St. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. $25 general seating, or $5 for youth 18 and under. For tickets or info, call 870-5560 or visit online at mauimusicarts.org.
