RICHARD DIGIACOMO – Sat, Sep 6. Richard DiGiacomo, of Russian and Italian descent, is an accomplished artist who is known for his innovative approach to coloration. Transplanted to Maui, Hawaii in 2010, Richard was ascended to a new level of artistic ability with his newly-created metal fused art. Created by the etching of aluminum panels and color, and fused with various techniques, his technique calls for many coats of clear seals, applied to create depth and movement. Free. 2:30-5:30pm. KUMU KAHUA THEATRE-KOI, LIKE THE FISH- Fri, Sep 19 & Sat, Sep 20. Honolulu’s Kumu Kahua Theatre with an encore production of an original play by Maui’s Keali‘iwahine Hokoana. A young woman, her husband and child move in to her ailing uncle’s house to take care of him. But Koi, used to living alone, soon begins to clash with his new housemates in spite of their assistance. Tensions rise, and soon Koi’s only real friend turns out to be the woman who delivers the mail. Originally presented by MACC in 2008, this play takes an unflinchingly realistic look at the problems of families living together.
