JOEL HEINZ-ARTIST IN RESIDENCE – Sun, Jun 15. Heinz began painting with no formal art training other than what he was able to pick up in school, from associating with other artists and from the joys of experimentation and discovery. He’s since gained a greater appreciation for the Hawaiian culture, and is particularly intrigued by ancient designs on tapa cloth and by Hawaiian petroglyphs. RICHARD DIGIACAMO-ARTIST IN RESIDENCE – Sun, Jun 15. Digiacamo is an accomplished artist who is known for his innovative approach to coloration. For more than 35 years, he has worked with celebrities, noted interior designers and leading institutions. Transplanted to Maui, Hawaii in 2010, Richard was ascended to a new level of artistic ability with his newly-created metal fused art. MAMO ON MAUI: WEARABLE ART SHOW – Sat, Jun 28. This popular annual show on Oahu grew out of a month-long celebration of Native Hawaiian art launched by Vicky Holt Takamine in 2006.
