The new Maui Fish and Chips in Kihei’s Dolphin Plaza will hold a grand opening this Saturday, July 11 at 11am. They’re planning to do a $20 gift certificate giveaway on the hour, all day. And they’re inviting the public to come take a bite of their fast casual, fried fish menu.
Maui Fish and Chips recruited food developer Dion Abbott, credited with the original Alexander’s Fish and Chips recipe.
“I have seen many places come and go in my 30 years on Maui,” said Abbott. “It is my goal to reinvent and renew one of the most beloved concepts of the past with my people and their children. It’s time to give back.”
Other members of the team include head chef Mark “Marz” Hoyt from 5 Palms and Kevin Bell as launch manager.
The menu includes mahi, ahi, ono, basa, shrimp, calamari, chicken, onion rings, Volcano fries, garlic fries, curry fries, furikake fries, rice, mushrooms and zucchini, all grilled or fried. They also offer a range of specialty sauces. Maui Fish’n Chips offers mini to “boat” sizes, as will as a family tub and “Titanic” sizes. Prices start at $6.99.
The restaurant is going in where the Maui BBQ was located, next to Taqueria Cruz and Koiso Sushi.
