Maui Brewing Company’s Bikini Blonde Lager is now being served on Hawaiian Airlines’ international routes, making the local product the “Official Craft Beer of Hawaiian Airlines.” In addition, MBC’s Bikini Blonde will be offered on domestic flights to and from the U.S. Mainland beginning Oct. 1.
“As Hawaii’s largest craft brewery we’re proud to partner with Hawaiian Airlines in having a truly local beer available to passengers,” said Garrett Marrero, founder of Maui Brewing Co. in an Aug. 29 news release. “I am looking forward to enjoying a great beer as I travel to and from the islands.”
Bikini Blonde Lager is a filtered Munich Helles Lager brewed with floral hops and Pilsner and Munich malts. The company currently has one craft brewery in Lahaina, and one brewpub in Kahana that creates more than 40 different styles on a rotating basis. In 2005, MBC produced 400 barrels from the single brewpub and expanded into an additional brewery location in 2007, producing a little more than 20,000 barrels in 2013.
MBC is currently building an additional brewery in Kihei. That facility will help the company meet current demand, in addition to supplying new markets. The company’s goal is to be brewing and shipping beer from the new brewery by the end of 2014.
