JOHN MAYALL & KIM SIMMONDS – John Mayall and Kim Simmonds will transport you to the era of British Blues this Thursday. Known to most as the “Godfather of British Blues,” Mayall introduced the world to the Bluesbreakers, whose members included Eric Clapton, Peter Green and Mick Taylor. Following a break, Mayall was called back to make music. Opening the evening with an acoustic set will be Savoy Brown founder Kim Simmonds. Between sets, guests will be able to bid for autographed instruments, with proceeds benefiting Hawaii Lifeguard Association’s Jr. Lifeguard program. $35-$55. 7:30pm. EBB & FLOW FESTIVAL – Ebb & Flow Arts presents a two-day festival sampling poems and music from around the world. The first night features Netherlands native Jaap Blonk. He’s been reciting music poetry for three decades, drawing inspiration from Kurt Schwitters. This second evening hosts the harp, flute and viola work of international composers performed by Hawaii Symphony members Susan McGinn, Colin Belisle and Tatyana Shapiro-Leiste. Free. 7:30pm. BREW FEST DINNER – As a precursor to the fifth annual Maui Brew Festival, craft beer connoisseurs and amateurs alike are invited to take part in the Maui Brew Fest Dinner. The first of its kind, the educational meal partners Cactus Bistro Chef John Memering and Maui Brewing Co. owner Garrett Marrero to prepare a dining experience exhibiting craft. The dinner highlights local ingredients, in both the food and beer, and will feature a breakdown of each course and craft pairing. MAUI BREW FEST – The 5th Annual Maui Brewers Festival returns for another evening of all beers. Sip your way through 33 breweries pouring more than 60 varieties of craft brews. The afternoon also consists of seven rare beers ranging from Golden Ales to Double English IPAs. Take a break between brew tastings and help yourself to pupus from local restaurants. Nuff Sedd, Lia Live and Simply Twisted will also provide tunes for your listening pleasure! Proceeds benefit the Maui Arts and Cultural Center. ARABIAN NIGHTS ECSTATIC DANCE – The Cosmic Collective invites you to Arabian Nights. Guests will be greeted by belly dancers and have access to a yoga swing jungle and the crystal altar. Star Fields will be producing live art while Maui’s DJ Boogiemeister and DJ Emuin will provide the evenings “Arabic electronica.” The evening will also feature nationally recognized author and Maui poet Dr. DreamingBear. HUI NO‘UEAU STUDENT & FACULTY SALON – The Hui No‘eau is opening its doors for their biennial “The Hui Teaches: Student & Faculty Salon.” It’s an opportunity for them to showcase work from Hui’s adult classes. The program is aimed at fostering community and creativity. For this particular show, eligible students, faculty and open studio users have been a part of a Hui program since May 2011. MALAMA ONELOA – Save Makena is encouraging everyone to come out and Malama Oneloa (care for Big Beach.) Volunteers will help weeding invasive plants and cleaning the beach. Volunteers, along with Hawaii State DLNR officials will meet at the second entrance and work from there. Volunteers are encouraged to bring gloves and water. SUPPER CLUB WITH MISHKA – Caribbean Reggae artist Mishka takes to the Stella stage this Friday. Mishka’s eclectic music reverberates with messages of love and social justice.
