[RELAY] I can take jabs at long distance runners because I used to be one. In fact, I was a really good one. Imay not be able to walk up the street without feeling like my liver is going to blow up nowadays, but I used to kick ass. The 36th Annual Hana Relay is back with six waves of runners heading out from Kahului in the wee hours of the morning. There will be a max of 125 teams with six runners each. No road closures are scheduled and the best place to check out the action is Baldwin Beach park, the Haiku Community Center or while snarfing down breakfast in Paia town. All joking aside, it sounds like a fantastic run. The views alone and the different climates are enticing. In fact, I just may bust out the old running shoes and… Nah. Runners may register until Sept. 7 at Runner’s Paradise at the Maui Mall. 877-5300 for more information.
