Lima Wela, Las Manos Calientes ידיים חמות, or, for those who like to stick to good old English – Hot Hands – is the multi cultural acoustic guitar trio composed of Hawaiian Willie K., Spanish Joe Cano, and Isreali Avi Ronen. Lima Wela is the musical group with the hottest, quickest hands in the Pacific. Their hands jump from one string to the next with such speed that it’s almost disturbing; their performance makes it clear why the Hawaiians named the ukulele after the “uku” or jumping flea. Their music is never static, rather it constantly keeps a step ahead of listeners, smoothly transitioning from a ballad for a hot, dusky Arabian night, to the cool music your favorite uncle plays from his own venue of choice – a beer cooler in the shade, then doing a 180 to stylized Latin rythyms beffiting any Don Juan’s seduction or showdown scene. Lima Wela will visit the MACC Saturday and Sunday, March 13th and 14th, at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $35. 242-SHOW.
