HereÕs looking at uke, kid
Friday (July 10), 9pm, EhaÕs, Wailuku
Remember that one time when I wouldnÕt shut up about Kanekoa? Well, the universe has responded to my desperate pleas to revive the band and its uke-fueled jam stylings.
With a new drummer in tow and up to speed, tonightÕs gig kicks off a
string of shows across the isle, which means that this bandÕs sizable
following can exhume itself and make like itÕs Dead tour. (But then
again, maybe not, since unlike Dead tour, hanging out in parking lots
would probably not be a good idea given the various anti-fun squads
that comb this island with a vengeance, squads the county sees fit to
fund with your money. Damn you, nepotism!). If youÕve never seen Vince Esquire
on ukulele, then you are pretty much required to attend. With groovy
originals and a list of brilliant cover choices, including ÒPeace FrogÓ
and ÒFranklinÕs Tower,Ó the modest dance floor at EhaÕs will most certainly need some recovery time come this Saturday, roundabout 2am.
