In desperate need of a low-stress night? Don’t forget the advantages of being marooned on a pretty little rock in the middle of the Pacific. It’s February, and while elsewhere mothers are busy wrenching the X-box controller out of their teenage son’s hands to get him to help shovel the drive, here at home it’s time to enjoy a little Jazz on the Blue outdoors at Mulligan’s. Treat yourself to a peaceful night in Wailea, listening to some of the island’s best jazz musicians, including Toby Couture on vocal and keyboards, Shiro Mori on guitar, Paul Marchetti on drums, and Doug White on bass. The tunes will be accompanied by an “eat-as-you-please” buffet ($29.95)—yes, they’re trying to say all-you-can eat while sounding high-class. Whatever you want to call it, the offerings sound mouthwatering, especially for seafood fanatics. Start off with New England style chowder with clams, mahi mahi, rock shrimp and crab. For the main course, savor the roast prime rib au jus and seafood lasagna. Please refrain from stuffing the mini Bailey’s chocolate mousse tarts and flourless chocolate tortes with a raspberry coulis into your purse to later be guiltily devoured in bed; that would be the kind of thing someone might do at an all-you-can eat buffet, but god forbid one should be so crass at an eat-as-you-please buffet. Reservations recommended. 874-1131.
