[PARTY/FUNDRAISER] The Hollywood Canteen of the early ‘40’s was a place where big stars, starlets and movie moguls volunteered their time to work as waiters, entertainers, greeters, cigarette girls, private dancers, etc. to put smiles on the shining faces of military servicemen and women. It would be common to see the likes of Bette Davis, Lana Turner, Carmen Miranda, Groucho Marx and Fred Astaire. And you’re likely to see those same likenesses, although this time in honorable impersonation, at the Maui Rotary Clubs’ big gala this year titled, “March to Victory.” There’ll be WWII USO memorabilia, live entertainment, dancing and auctions. Money raised will go towards various community projects. Tickets: $50, $100. For info visit online at http://canteen2007.com.
