[COMMUNITY MEETING] It sounds terribly melodramatic, but the future of the historic old Iao Theater is a giant question mark right now. As part of a general effort to “revitalize” Wailuku Town, a private consulting firm—under contract from the Iao Theater Restoration Initiatives Task Force, which always meets in secret—is taking suggestions and spurring discussions from residents on what to do with the old theater. Does the county sell it? Or kick current theater manager Maui OnStage out when the lease ends this October? Should the Iao show just plays or go back to its old movie house status? And when, oh when, are they going to do something about air conditioning? So go, listen and say what you think. Really—don’t be shy. For more information, call 270-7710. [ANTHONY PIGNATARO]
