Honolulu Cookie Company opened its first Mainland retail location May 17 in Las Vegas. The pineapple-shaped shortbread cookies are now available in the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian/The Palazzo.
“We couldn’t have asked for a more ideal location to begin the initial expansion of our company outside Hawaii,” said Randy Yeager, President of Honolulu Cookie Company. “We are excited to share our premium cookies’ hand-made excellence and unique tropical flavors with new customers!”
The Grand Canal store will feature new cookie products developed specifically for the Las Vegas market. In addition to the trademark pineapple-shaped cookies, the new store will feature cookies shaped like diamonds, hearts, spades and clubs. The Honolulu-based company also designed new packaging to resemble a deck of cards.
“Las Vegas is similar to Hawaii, in that it is a tourist destination and provides an excellent opportunity for retail,” said VP of Marketing Ginger Waters. “Las Vegas is also a second home and vacation spot for many Hawaii residents, making it an ideal location to test the brand to see how it performs outside of the Islands,” Waters said.
The company, which plans to open a second Las Vegas store in the near future, bakes its cookies in Honolulu every morning at 5 a.m. and then ships them to Las Vegas. The company may expand its bakery operations to Las Vegas in order to meet the anticipated demand for more cookies, Yeager said.
The Honolulu Cookie Company has 7 retail stores in Waikiki, 1 at Ward Warehouse and a kiosk in the Makai Food Court at Ala Moana Center on Oahu. On Maui, Honolulu Cookie Company has a store in the Shops at Whalers Village and one on Front Street in Lahaina; a third Maui store is set to open this summer in the Shops at Wailea. The first international location will open later this year in Seoul, Korea.
