[PARADE/FESTIVAL] The best place for a soldier in wartime is home safe with his or her family. In this regard, Maui families are fortunate, since their reservists have recently returned from a year’s tour of duty in the Iraq war. They’re really going big for this welcome home party: Governor Linda Lingle, Mayor Alan Arakawa and Congressman Ed Case are all slated to attend. The Royal Hawaiian Band is supposed to come over from Oahu, and possibly even bring Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann with them. Entertainment will come courtesy of Raiatea Helm, Te Maui Merhahi, Richard Ho’opi’i, Brandy Souza and members of S.O.S.-Las Vegas. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. over by the YMCA and head down Kanaloa Ave. [ANTHONY PIGNATARO]
