[HOLIDAY] While the Chinese New Year officially began last Sunday, Jan. 29, celebrations on Maui are continuing on through this weekend, as well. 2006 is the year of the Male Red Fire Dog, a year of balancing fire and earth elements. Speaking of balance, as with any New Year, you might get an inkling to take a closer look internally. So, thankfully, The Dragon’s Den is holding a Health Fair with all-day lectures and consultations about Chinese medicine, Western herbs, nutrition, naturopathy, massage and more. For more info, call 572-2424. Or if you’re looking for more traditional Chinese New Year fanfare, Lahaina’s celebration will take place on Front Street between Papalaua St. and Lahainaluna St. and will feature Au’s Shaolin Arts Society and their traditional lion dance, as well as demonstrations of cultural arts throughout the evening. For more info or to volunteer, call 667-9175. Kung Hee Fat Choy! [SAMANTHA CAMPOS]
