[SPIRITUAL] The Diamond Approach is the latest in spiritual paths incorporating psychology with spirituality, that claims its aim is “to live fully and deeply” by helping you to get rid of fixed patterns and discovering your “true essence.” Created by physicist A.H. Almaas while attending UC Berkeley in the early 1970’s, the Diamond Approach, writes Almaas, “vies reality to be fundamentally the eternal truth of spirit that manifests itself in various dimensions, from the deepest dimension of absolute emptiness to the physical realm.” The spiritual teachings attempt to enliven a spirit of inquiry, motivated by a “love of truth” and “dissolution of biases,” including the belief that what’s being studied is not separate from the student. And in the book The Diamond Approach by John Davis, chapters cover “The Phenomenology of Space,” “Nonconceptual Reality and the Nameless” and “The Theory of Holes”—pretty heady stuff. But hey, whatever floats your boat, melts your butter or, uh, shines your diamond. Free.
