Because I’m privileged with windows, I’ve never watched The Weather Channel—so I haven’t the foggiest as to what their programming is like. But if I had to guess, I’d say it’s 99 percent elevator music accompanying various slides of happy-faced suns, with the experience equating to awkward small talk with your TV. Well, yawn (and Yanni) no longer! Sexing it up, The Weather Channel is on the eve of their biggest action-reality series launch: From the Edge with Peter Lik, produced by NBC’s Peacock Productions. If you’ve seen the promo spots on Comedy Central, the Discovery Channel and National Geographic, you already know that the series follows Melbourne-born master photographer Peter Lik “risking life and limb as he visits some of America’s most spectacular locations in search of the perfect shot.” To celebrate the show’s debut, Lik Lahaina invites you to an in-gallery screening with fancy food from local eateries and live entertainment. Plus, they’ll be giving away lots of high-end prizes like Lik’s photographic works and the 25th anniversary edition of his Big Book. 661-6623; peterlik.com
