HALLOWEEN KEIKI PARADE – The annual Keiki Halloween Costume Parade returns to Lahaina for its 35th year! The parade celebrates keiki, highlights Lahaina’s devoted community and gets everyone in a four-block radius to have fun. This year, Don Rosenthal–who has done so much for West Maui athletics over the last three decades–will be Grand Marshal. His devotion to West Maui youth athletics over the past 30 years has been invaluable. Other guests include Mayor Alan Arakawa, the Shriners, Lahainaluna High School’s Marching Band, the Maui Fire Department and more surprise guests! HALLOWEEN ON FRONT STREET – Halloween in Lahaina continues through the night with an adult-friendly version of the keiki parade. Termed the “Marti Gras of the Pacific,” Front Street on Oct. 31 becomes a runway filled with costumes–scary, sexy and just plain silly. Enter a chance to win $1,000 cash prize for the best costume courtesy of Honu Seafood and Pizza and Mala Ocean Tavern! You can register for the contest at a Pioneer Inn retail store. Here, automobile trunks will get decorated with various kid-friendly themes. There will also be pony rides and hayrides! Stop by the petting zoo, play games or simply enjoy the live entertainment. QUANTIC – Turn up the heat on your Halloween plans with Quantic, a UK-born musician, producer and DJ. Known for his Jazz, funk and Afro-beat fusion, he will make his Maui debut at Charley’s in Paia. GO RED FOR WOMEN – The 2013 Go Red for Women Luncheon and Health Expo returns this Saturday to the Fairmont Kea Lani. It features a three-course “heart healthy” lunch, health screenings, live demonstrations and a silent auction, and all proceeds benefit the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement that funds research, education, community service and health advocacy programs for women. XAVIER RUDD – A multi-instrumental soloist, Xavier Rudd hails from Australia and is making his Maui debut at the Iao Theater this Saturday. Rudd has mastered eight acoustic guitars, three unique didgeridoos and a finely-tuned quiver. Rudd contributed songs to Matthew McConaughey’s 2008 indie comedy Surfer, Dude and has collaborated with Jack Johnson many times. RESTAURANT WEEK WAILEA – Work up an appetite for the return of Restaurant Week Wailea starting this Sunday, because it runs through Saturday, Nov. 9. The area is home to award-winning culinary talent, celebrity chefs and a wide array of cuisine. TAKE A PIECE OF WONDER – All good (and cool) things must come to an end, but that doesn’t mean it has to be sad. This Monday, the public is invited to help disassemble Wes Bruce’s “Taken By Wonder” exhibition at the MACC’s Schaffer International Gallery. Bruce, known for his forts, incites wonder through his use of various materials, remnants and illustrations he found on the island. The public is urged to take a piece of his fort and re-purpose it.
