Easter Roundup
Friday-Sunday (April 2-4)
Halloween gets all the glory as a candy-gathering holiday, but Easter’s no slouch either. And for kids with a sweet tooth, there are many ways to collect goodies this Easter. Stop by the Keiki Zone during the Maui County Agricultural Festival at Maui Tropical Plantation for a five-years old and under Easter egg hunt at noon and six-to-ten-year-old hunt at 12:45pm, Saturday, April 3. Maui Thing in Wailuku is organizing lots of free activities, including “making reusable bag art” from 9am-1pm and “plant your own garden” from 1pm-4pm, as well as games and a chance to win a $100 Maui Thing gift certificate. For a small fee, there will also be horseback rides operated by Thompson Ranch and the Maui Tropical Plantation Tram Tour. Unity Church will host an egg hunt at 10am, April 4 at the Filipino Community Center in Kahului, with brunch served for $10. Kings Cathedral/First Assembly Church hosts multiple hunts: 8am at Lahaina Recreational Park; noon at Kalama Park in Kihei; and 4pm at Pukalani Park on April 2; and 10am at Keoupualani Park on April 3. The church will also present His Hands: The Musical April 2-4, 7pm. $10 for adults, $5 for children. Keeping with the theatrical theme, head over to Iao Theater at 7pm on April 2 to watch the classic bunny-themed movie Harvey for free. The show will be accompanied by a bottomless bag of popcorn and “big kids” egg hunt. The Easter Bunny also plans to do a lot of party-hopping this weekend: Friday, April 2, he’ll be at the Kaahumanu Center for photo shoots starting at 10am; on April 3 he’s hosting a breakfast buffet at the Hard Rock Café from 8:30-11am, adults $20, kids $15. Finally, you can celebrate the start of spring at the Maui Orchid Society’s annual Easter Orchid Show & Plant Sale on April 1-2 from 9 am-6pm, as well as April 3 from 9am-4pm. Sierra Brown, MauiTime
