As part of an island-wide festival, the Lahaina Jodo Mission will host its Obon Festival this Friday, July 3. The Buddhist festival honors ancestors with ritual food offerings, lantern lighting and traditional dances. The festival continues throughout the summer, popping up at missions around the island.
