Kokua Ka Hale Pule (Support the Church) this Friday, Oct. 2 at the Velma Santos Community Center in Wailuku. It’s a benefit for the historic Ka`ahumanu Church, the grounds of which were part of the royal compound of Kahekili, the 13th king of Maui. You’ll see Aunty Hulu Lindsey, `Ahumanu; Hawaiian Serenaders; Ka Pa Hula O Maui halau, and the women of `Ahahui Ka`ahumanu. Dinner includes kalua pork, squid luau, poke, lomi salmon, poi, rice, green salad, desserts and beverage. $40 donation in advance or $50 at the door. 5-10pm.
