Twenty-nine mentors and children from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Maui were treated to a “Road to Hana” trip on Nov. 15. Platinum Tours owner John Fierro took Maui’s “Bigs” and “Littles” in a luxurious bus for a trip to the remote part of the island that they otherwise might not be able to enjoy.
The children and mentors from Kahului Elementary, Wailuku Elementary, Kamehameha School, Princess Nahienaena, Maui High School and Lahainaluna High School began the day with a breakfast sponsored by Charley’s Restaurant and Saloon in Paia. The Big Brothers and Big Sisters were then treated to dessert provided by The Maui Cookie Lady.
“We are so thankful for the Maui community’s support of our mentoring programs,” said Big Brothers Big Sisters of Maui Executive Director JD Wyatt. “Big mahalos to Platinum Tours, Charley’s Restaurant and Saloon, and The Maui Cookie Lady for your generosity and for giving our kids a memory that will last a lifetime!”
The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters is to provide children (who often come from families with limited resources) facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that hopefully change their lives for the better.
