If you’ve ever played a goofy drinking game, you’ve already got a pretty good idea of the kind of fun that Comedy Hui is after: 25 improvisational games in quick succession, missing only the penalty shots for a screw-up (relax, LC). This show is tailored to the audience, which can suggest scenes, characters and themes. “I wouldn’t really recommend it for kids, I mean, it’s improvisation, so anything can happen,” says the producer Amanda Taulere. She also mentions that she wants the audience to feel comfortable, like they can say anything. One game is called “Sit, Stand, Kneel, Lie Down”; the gist is that one cast member must be doing each action. If one person stands during the scene, the next one has to find an excuse to drop to the floor. Another game called “New Choice” is basically live, interactive Mad Libs. (Remember how much fun those were? Yesterday, my pyschologist told me to eat raw babies to battle obesity…) Mix things up and come play a few games with some of Maui’s funniest entertainers.
