[FREE SHOWS] I know it seems like we just celebrated Children’s Book Week, but that was last year—Children’s Book Week 2005—an entirely different Children’s Book Week. That Children’s Book Week is now OBSOLETE, discarded in favor of this year’s Children’s Book Week 2006, which is far more efficient and stylish than last year’s model. In fact, this year’s Children’s Book Week is guaranteed to get your kids to reading faster and better than any previous Children’s Book Week, or your money back! Here’s a partial schedule of the festivities on Maui:
• Tues., Nov. 14, 10:30 a.m. at the Wailuku Public Library: Caldecott Award-winning author Gerald McDermott, storyteller Nyla Fujii-Babb and dancer/choreographer Yuki Shiroma will perform (at right, top to bottom).
• Wed., Nov. 15, 10:30 a.m. at the Lahaina Public Library/2:30 p.m. at the Wailuku Public Library: Emmy-winning author Jim May will appear.
• Thurs., Nov. 16, 10 a.m. at the Makawao Public Library/Fri., Nov. 17, 10:30 a.m. at the Kihei Public Library: Actress Janice Terukina will perform.
All shows are free. Please check out www.librarieshawaii.org for a complete list of Children’s Book Week programs. [ANTHONY PIGNATARO]
