This week, Maui Invasive Species Committee (MISC) warrior Abe Vanderberg dropped some interesting coqui frog knowledge in MauiTime’s News & Views. But more than being a front line battler against invasive species, Abe is a topnotch multi-instrumentalist. His latest album is titled Wars Ragin, and of it his bio reads, “Not an album to be handled lightly, the 2010 release Wars Ragin is [a] poignant, conscious, realistic understanding of the times that speaks out with lyrics that are not so much critical of the times we live in, but regretfully reflective, that what this planet and this culture needs in such wasteful times are cheerful reminders that encourage happiness and responsibility in all our lifestyles, instead of hammering us with guilt and hopelessness.” For more about Abe’s Logic, check out his website abeslogic.com
(Hey! I just wrote about this place on Lana’i, in my latest Kula Kid column.)
OK, so Abe’s since sheared his long locks; but today I received a link from another blonde, be-ponytailed Maui musician (reminding me I’ve been meaning to make a post about Abe’s music), Gerit Williams, in support of his new release All Roads Return Home — a live album recorded at Ha’iku’s Max World Bistro. For more about Gerit, visit his website at geritwilliams.com.
