Tickets are now available for MAPA’s Garden Party, scheduled to take place Sunday, Sept. 21 from 1pm to 5pm at the Yokouchi family estate in Wailuku. The event marks MAPA’s 40th birthday.
The Garden Party will feature gourmet cuisine; fine wines, beers and coffees; a silent and live auction; and live music. Adding a special touch to the elegant afternoon will be one of the Garden Party’s signature offerings–Fresh Art; some of Maui’s top painters and sculptors will create original works of art as guests meander through the estate grounds. The art, which will be sold during a live auction, will be created by numerous participants including George Allan, Karen Camara, Michael Clements, Joseph Fletcher, Anna Good, Jackie Pias Carlin, Jamie Roth, Jan Shaner, Maggie T. Sutrov and Steve Turnbull.
For Maui’s food enthusiasts, MAPA’s Chefs’ Festival will offer dining options from some of the island’s finest restaurants including Nick’s Fish Market; Monkeypod Kitchen by Merriman; Cafe O’Lei Restaurants; Spago; Bistro Casanova; Aloha Spiced Cacao; Bentos & Banquets by Bernard; Duke’s Beach House; Fabiani’s; Flatbread Company; Hula Grill; Maui Chocolate Fountain; Maui Tacos Mexican Surf Grill; Sangrita Grill + Cantina; Three’s Bar & Grill; and Vineyard Food Company by Catering from Soup to Nuts.
Complementing the cuisine will be fine wines from Ca’ Momi Winery in Napa; beer; kombucha from Big Wave Organics; and non-alcoholic beverages from Blue Sky Beverage and Maui Coffee Roasters.
Maui talent Leighanna Locke, Jerry Eiting, Lina Krueger, Kepa Cabanilla-Aricayos, Hoku Pavao and Ricky Jones will entertain with musical theater favorites; and local duo Moondance (Jim Howlett and Rudy Esquer) will play live Jazz during the Chefs’ Festival. Lumeria Maui Crystal Spa will provide complimentary wellness teasers. An assortment of vintage cars will also be on display.
Proceeds from the event will support MAPA’s performing arts programs. “MAPA has grown into one of the state’s largest performing arts organizations offering a full range of performing arts programs,” said Linda Howlett, MAPA’s Board Secretary and Chairperson for the event. “The Garden Party fundraiser has a direct impact on the success of our nonprofit organization. As MAPA’s largest fundraiser, it plays an essential role in ensuring that MAPA’s performing arts programs remain accessible and affordable.”
