[FILM/PARTY] All year long it’s been the same old story; why, why, why did I miss the film festival in Wailea last year? In that moment of hesitation, I sentenced myself to a year of sub-par, dumbed-down movies. I actually paid to see Dairy of a Mad Black Woman! I have to stop kicking myself, though. The film festival is right around the corner, and I will soak up all the cultural literacy I can, starting this Wednesday.
If you want to go all out, you can buy tickets to the Opening Night Twilight Reception for $195. That one includes a decadent menu, wine by DeLoach Vineyards, a Bombay Sapphire MauiTini Bar, a Bacardi bar and, of course, tickets to the evening’s double feature. The Celestial Cinema will be showing The Perfect Man, a Heather Locklear/Hilary Duff flick about a daughter trying to keep her mom from falling for a dud and Deep Blue, a documentary on the ocean.
If you’re still raring to go after that, The Big Bang Opening Night Party will be going on at Mulligan’s on the Blue. $40 will get you in to enjoy heavy pupus, a Bacardi bar and live music by Michael Franti (and trio). I can’t wait! See you guys there. [REESE QUICK]
