Celestial Cinema
The Festival people consider this their “crown jewel.” Located on the training facility of the Gold and Emerald Golf Course, this “theater” features a massive 48’ by 22’ screen, which allows hundreds of people to watch movies the way nature intended them—outside, under a warm Hawaiian night sky. Parking is located at the Wailea special event parking area on Wailea Ike Dr. A free shuttle will get you to the cinema.
SandDance Theater
This is the theater on Wailea Beach just below the Four Seasons Resort. Being located on a public beach and all, the films shown here are all free. You just sit in the sand and watch films—this year, a collection of some of Charlie Chaplin’s best shorts. Parking is either at the Wailea special event area—you’ll have to catch the shuttle—or at the usual Wailea Beach public parking lot.
Digital SkyDome
This one’s on the Pacific Terrace of the Wailea Marriott. Also under the stars, this is where the Festival will be screening films that aren’t really films, but are in fact entirely digital movies. Parking is at either the Marriott or the Shops at Wailea.
Castle & McCoy Theaters
Both are located in the Maui Arts and Cultural Center (MACC). The Castle is the “movie palace,” with a 48’ by 22’ screen and more than 1,000 seats, some which are in a really cool balcony section. The McCoy is a smaller, 250-seat cinema. The MACC is located at 1 Cameron Way, off Papa Ave. between Kahului Beach Rd. and Ka’ahumanu Ave. in Kahului. Parking is at the MACC, which is a 35-minute drive from Wailea, but keep in mind there are no shuttles making that run.
