I got interested in hair and makeup while I was in high school. My first job in the beauty industry was working behind a cosmetics counter and that pushed me into doing hair and makeup as a career. I was always somewhat artistic as a kid. I would sketch, draw and paint a lot but I never felt like I could master any of those mediums. But when I found makeup, something clicked and it’s become the medium I’m the most comfortable with. I provide hair and makeup styling for any bride, anywhere. I also provide hair and makeup for for print, fashion, commercial and personal projects.

For me, inspiration comes from all over. When going into a project, I like to get as many details as I can so I can come up with a story in my mind about the character I’m creating. Once I have that, things start falling into place. I also look to a lot of haute couture, vintage films and pop culture. Anything off the radar that I stumble across that catches my eye and gets me excited to interpret it in my own way.

Breaking away from very traditional wedding ideas and placing your own personal style into weddings. From colored gowns to singing your vows, adding something special to your big day is a great way to create new memories for you and your guests.

I always tell my brides to look for pictures of hair and makeup that they like and we’ll review them together. It’s easy to get lost in translation with just words. If I can get a visual idea of what you like, it helps both of us to accurately nail down the bridal look you’re thinking of and we can custom tailor it specifically for you.

I have to say my sister inspired me to get into hair. When I was young she was cutting hair in our garage and she was not formally trained. At that time I wanted to be just like her. She has always supported me in everything that I have done. We specialize in cutting, hair color, wedding styling, makeup, hairstyling, eyebrow tinting and tattoo.

I look at what Hawaii offers us in nature, the ocean, beaches and lifestyles. I also love celebrity weddings.

Embracing the use of color. Brides are going for more than the traditional white dresses. The trend for makeup and hair is going bold. Don’t be afraid to stand out.
#advice
Create dates and goals and hire a wedding planner to help to accomplish your tasks. Get a few trial runs in hair and makeup before the wedding, and make the appointments six months to a year in advance.
