The Maui Humane Society recently funded the expansion of its Veterinary and Spay/Neuter clinic with a grant from PetSmart Charities. The nearly $260,000 grant allowed MHS to expand the current veterinary clinic by more than 700 square feet.
This expansion further supports MHS’s ongoing efforts to reduce the animal homeless population and to save as many animal lives as possible. The new space increases the surgical capacity of the existing spay/neuter clinic to approximately 6,000 surgeries annually.
“We are very thankful that PetSmart Charities not only believes in the work we’re doing, but is willing to help fund it, therefore making an investment to decrease the number of homeless animals on Maui” said Jerleen Bryant, CEO Maui Humane Society.
President of PetSmart Charities David Haworth, DVM, Ph.D. commended the Humane Society’s diligent work to reduce the homeless pet population through targeted spay and neuter efforts. “With this grant, we are thrilled to support their mission to proactively prevent unplanned litters and look forward to seeing the results of their lifesaving work,” Haworth said.
