HATES KEITH REGAN PHOTO
In the July 16, 2015 Coconut Wireless, I see that you printed the same big photo of Keith Regan as you did in the June 11, 2015 issue. The same photo with the bright green aloha shirt and treacly jack-o-lantern grin. In the June 11 issue, the caption read, “Would you vote for this man?” To answer that, no, I would not vote for Keith Regan for Maui County Council because I’m sick and tired of him already. He’s been feeding at the public trough for almost 10 years as [Mayor Alan] Arakawa’s aide.
In your July 16 issue the article about Regan is ostensibly criticizing The Maui News for not mentioning Regan’s candidacy for County Council when they ran an effusive article about his latest generous and selfless endeavor and I suppose you were implying that he and his wife/co-dependent are only doing it for publicity, but really you’re just giving him more publicity by running the green-shirt photo again and writing about him some more. If you think he’s a fake, then please stop featuring him in your rag, and if you’re going to persist in publicizing him, then at least make the effort to dig up a different photo.

Editor Anthony Pignataro responds: You know what, Anonymous (if that is your real name…), you’re right. We do need a new photo of Keith Regan. So we’re just going to throw it out to our readers: if you’ve got a great photo of Keith Regan lying around that you think would look great in the pages of MauiTime, please send it our way! And if we publish your photo you’ll get a great MauiTime prize package worth, well, something. Please email high-res photos to Editor@Mauitime.com. Thanks!

LOVED KING KAMEHAMEHA GOLF CLUB STORY
I’m an avid reader of Mauitime. Love to read about the “other” side of Maui. I enjoyed your piece about the King Kamehameha Golf Club (“Uncle Willie K Meets Frank Lloyd Wright,” July 16, 2015), but I have a question: You mentioned in the third paragraph that Frank Lloyd Wright customized his home plan for Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller for land in Connecticut–but what about Maui? Did the couple ever plan to live in the Maui house? Just curious.
-Janet Go, via email
Jen Russo responds: Monroe and Miller never planned to live on Maui. The plans were later scaled up for use as a golf club on Maui.
