Missing Kula Kid and Dissing Walter Ritte

MISSES KULA KID
Anu [Yagi], congratulations on your well-deserved award! (“Kula Kid Does Detroit,” July 5, 2012). MauiTime was represented well, black eye and all. Loved your fear and loathing in the Motor City piece. Big hole at the MT since you defected: come back and bring Holoholo Girl (Samantha Campos!) with you. Good luck to you in all your future endeavors and keep on writing, it’s what you do best (apparently, drinking is what you do worst!). Cheers.

ON LANAI
This will ge a government dominated country if we don’t support the rights of private enterprise to make an attempt at something (Coconut Wireless, July 5, 2012). We can’t all work for the government. We should support the rights of private landowners to try something. We have elected and selected people to administer approvals. Once a private endeavor goes through the process, they have earned the right to try.

The marketplace will determine success or failure. We can make our statements with our money and our votes. Use them. At this point, this project is not even a conversation. This is going to happen and all rhetoric to the contrary is just bluster. The time for participation in the decision making process was decades ago. What was the feedback then?

MORE ON WALTER RITTE
It’s time for Maui County to pull the plug on Molokai (“Candidate!” June 28, 2012). Cut the welfare, stop coddling these jokers. the activists on Molokai think they are a law unto themselves. If the taxpayers in Maui County and State of Hawaii knew half the B*S* that happened on Molokai there would be a taxpayer revolt. How can you fight to keep jobs OUT and also ask for more welfare and unemployment?

The state needs to strip the people of Molokai of their perceived self-control and stop letting them squirm around like an out of control 14-year-old girl. If you’ve ever had kids, you know when enough is enough and you have to start with Tough Love. Molokai is the spoiled 14-year-old girl who has gotten her way too long and needs to be taught discipline and tough love by the rest of us. I guess deep down inside this joker [Walter] Ritte is a 14-year-old girl trying to get out. And this guy has reproduced and has children!

CORRECTION
Our July 5, 2012 dining story (“The Point Bar at Merriman’s Kapalua”) incorrectly noted one happy hour special: they do NOT offer 20 percent off wine bottles. We regret the error.
