The notice for this event came in too late for us to include in our print edition, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go. On Monday, Dec. 1, historian Gail Ainsworth (who wrote Maui Remembers) will speak at the Makawao Public Library on the history of that little town.
“Ainsworth, who is Vice President and Historian of the Maui History Museum, will discuss the history of Makawao from early to recent times, including immigrant groups, agriculture, and the town’s development as a business center,” stated a Nov. 24 Hawaii State Library news release. “Following the presentation, Ainsworth and Makawao branch manager Glenda Berry will conduct a question-and-answer session about researching local history.”
The event is free and will take place at 6:30pm in the Adult Reading Section. The library is located at 1159 Makawao Ave. For more information, call the library at 808-573-8785.
