There’s no one like Mom in the world. To make Mother’s Day extra special, consider celebrating with one of Maui’s unique treatments and activities. We talked with spa, salon and specialty service experts around the island to find the best ways to pamper our mothers.
Chocolate Honey Facial
First, we cleanse with an all natural QB Maui Honey botanical cleanser. Then exfoliate under steam with a hand-blended exfoliant using green papaya enzymes and walnut shell powder for optimal polish. Then hydrate in a chocolate honey facial mask blended with a gentle clay (or one blended personally for you). There’s a hot towel mask removal, followed by a facial massage with an antioxidant skin serum. We finish with lip and eye attention, a natural moisturizer and a light scalp massage. The Honey House is a sweet little day spa perched in Makawao across from Casanova. We offer personalized skincare during our facials with the option to create and hand-mix your own specialized honey mask, according to your skin needs.

Pelleve Face Lift
I use a radio frequency machine, Pelleve, that gently delivers heat to the tissues of the face. This stimulates new collagen growth and results in softening wrinkles and giving you a younger look. It feels like a relaxing hot rock session, but at the same time you are stimulating new collagen growth. I practice out of my office in Haiku Town called UpCountry Doctor. The office has a peaceful environment where I pamper you throughout the treatment.

Reiki
Reiki is an ancient Tibetan holistic healing practice. It works, without body manipulation, to open possible blockages in the endocrine system often referred to as chakras, or energy centers to promote self healing and well being. Ancient cultures knew intuitively that anyone and everyone can heal. Hawaiians have a system called Huna that is quite similar and I’ve heard of a Celtic system involving the healing properties of trees. The Reiki system I practice was reintroduced by Mikao Usui of Japan in the early 1900s and adopted in the West through his student Madame Takata who set up schools in Hawaii.

This unique treatment uses the vibrational healing energies of gemstones to help restore, balance and relax the mind, body and spirit. Vitamin C crystals brighten and polish away fine lines and wrinkles revealing healthy vibrant skin. The end result is a much more calmer, transformed you and skin that’s truly hydrated and luminous. This facial includes a collagen eye treatment that targets fine lines and puffiness, a hand and foot massage and a Goddess card reading.

100 Percent Botanical Scalp Treatment
Healthy hair comes from a healthy scalp, so treating the scalp is very important. This treatment balances the scalp, exfoliates, purifies and energizes the scalp. First we exfoliate your scalp with a boar head bristle brush to get the dead skin cells off your scalp. We then apply a scalp treatment where we then massage your head while the products do their job. Once your scalp is hydrated, we apply hair oils to the remaining part of your hair because our hair needs the moisture too. At Mirror Mirror Salon we strive to deliver the best products and services. We’re careful when choosing ingredients that may be harmful to our bodies and the environment. We use products that are free of PPD (paraphenylenediamine), resorcinol, DEA (diethanolamine), sodium lauryl sulfates, parabens, formaldehyde, toluene, mineral oils and DBP (phthalates).

Ho Ali‘i Treatment
This session starts with a 30-minute doTerra AromaTouch treatment then goes right into a full body hot stone massage with a mini facial, a unique face massage with cleanser, scrub and mask. Luxurious and relaxing, this is the one to get for your favorite wahine. Another good one is a 90-minute session with hot rocks and dynamic cupping. Silicone Buanfa Cups are used to release tight muscle fascia and decompress the body and hot stones bring the heat and deep relaxation. LightWave Therapy Massage
This is a therapeutic massage using St. John Neuromuscular techniques along with Lomi Lomi and 635nm, 5 mW light. The LightWave is a scientific device which emits photons. Our cells absorb the photons and the mitochondria in the cells (skin, muscle, nerve cells) converts the photons into ATP aka bio-fuel, a very similar process to photosynthesis in plants using photons from the sun. It’s anti-inflammatory, reduces pain and supports our bodies to speed healing pain- and drug-free.

Laser Hair Removal
A trained electrologist inserts a small probe into the hair follicle alongside the hair. A small amount of electrical current is then delivered to the probe by a sensitive electronic device called an epilator. Depending on the technique used, the electric current destroys the hair root either by heat or a chemical reaction. The lightpod neo is a uniquely gentle and versatile laser device, which can safely and effectively be used for a broad range of common aesthetic skin treatments. We use it for hair removal, ingrown hairs, acne clearance, nail fungus, rosacea, spider veins, pigmented lesions. It delivers 1064nm energy to the skin using a gentle energy pulse, virtually eliminating pain while providing the best clinical results for even the darkest skin tones.

Top that with the best hair stylist and makeup artist professionals in the island, and the combination of the two is one of very pleasant and harmonious work. Shamanic Journey
My most unique treatment would be shamanic journeys and channeling spirits with people. There are lots of positive feedback on my psychic readings too. The shamanic journey is a mixture of local plants that are cooked down into a syrup like liquid and given to help bring spiritual light into those in need. One journey takes about three days to make. When channeling spirits with people, my clients claim to go into visions and feel all types of body sensations. They claim to see my ancestors and feel like they are plugged into a wall socket. I’m a deep generation medicine man of Occonaluftee First Nation Native American. I learned from my grandfather. I have many treatments, it’s about helping others. I’ve had the privilege of working with over 11,000 plants and thousands of people.

Herbal Thai Massage with Hot Herbal Compresses
I’m one of the few providers who makes herbal compresses for each treatment from organic sources. I make my own compresses using fresh ginger root, turmeric and kaffir lime leaves from my local market, while sourcing quality dried eucalyptus, lemongrass and galangal root in bulk from organic suppliers. This traditional balancing blend is steamed hot and applied to the body during massage. Like a Thai version of a hot stone massage, but with its own flavor. Inhaling the herbal vapors can relieve headaches, anxiety and mental stress, while clearing out congestion of the lungs and sinuses. Lively herbs like eucalyptus and kaffir lime clean and disinfect the skin, opening your pores, and stimulating your senses. “Hot” herbs including ginger and turmeric help soothe and relax tense, sore muscles from everyday use, and can be particularly helpful for injuries and chronic conditions, such as arthritis pain, ligament sprains, and muscle strains. Bonus: If you absorb enough of the herbal oils, you may smell like a spiced citrus ginger cookie whenever your skin gets hot, for a day or more afterwards!

Dermaplane Facial
Dermaplaning is a safe and painless procedure for exfoliating the epidermis and ridding the skin of fine peach fuzz hair. You’re left with youthful and glowing skin. Dermaplaning provides not only a more intense exfoliation but a deeper penetration of products into the skin. My skin feels and looks amazing after–I’m addicted. Paragon Salon is one of the few full service salons on Maui. It’s your one-stop shop for all things beauty related. With a wide range of services available you can spend a full day of pampering at the salon. Hair cuts and color, Brazilian Blowouts, mani pedis, facials including a microdermabrasion facial and waxing are some of our most popular services but we also offer massage and professional makeup.

Signature 4 Hands Massage: Waimaka o Pele (The Joyful Tears of Pele)
We start with a unique and energizing blend of locally harvested black lava & bamboo green sea salts infused with Pele essential oils to polish and perfect the skin leaving it silky soft. Following the aromatic hot linens is a delightful relaxing four hands Lomi lomi massage with warm aromatherapy oils that focus on easing tension and stress. At the end of this treatment you will receive an olivine droplet as a fond farewell gift to wish you luck and abundance in your life journey. I personally love-love facials. They are extremely relaxing and at the same time very effective. Our aestheticians are able to customize a facial for the type of your skin by utilizing all their trainings, massage techniques and different types of products. You will never get the same identical facial each time as your skin is different each time. Wome days it needs hydration or detoxing or moisturizing!
