How many years experience in the industry?
What got you started in the spa, salon or wellness industry? When was this?
In 2001, I started as a spa receptionist in my hometown of Sacramento while still in high school. I fell in love with beauty and wellness and began my career in spa and wellness and Lake Tahoe, followed by Maui at upscale destination resorts. While working in Lake Tahoe I commuted daily to Reno, NV to get my Estheticians license.
Please give me one fitness tip:
The key to fitness is stretching! It will save your body from being sore or tight and will prolong your longevity and flexibility. I have just started CrossFit and this tip has saved me from hurting myself.
What is your personal favorite spa or salon therapy and where and when you indulge in it.
Personal favorite spa : Spa Helani, a Heavenly Spa by Westin™ at The Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort Villas
Pureacne Facial by GM Collin Skincare at Spa Helani. I try to get this treatment once a month as it helps control oiliness, clear breakouts and soothe my skin. It is the ONLY facial I have received that gives immediate results and does not stress or dry out my sensitive skin. The treatment is 80 minutes and includes an amazing shoulder and hand massage – you leave feeling like a new person.
Best skin advice, spa or salon treatment and fave product for a 20 something:
Drink water! A lot of “20 something’s” drink a lot of coffee and alcohol without rehydrating their body. This dehydration will show n your skin and can cause you to age prematurely.
Tip: Divide your weight in half and that is how many ounces of water you should drink each day. To rehydrate your skin, try GM Collin’s Aquamucine SPF 15 moisturizer, available at Spa Helani. Perfect for all skin types, it absorbs completely and has a light scent of bamboo, water lilly and lotus. Plus, best of all it has SPF – one less step in your daily beauty routine!
Best skin advice, spa or salon treatment and fave product for a 30 (the new 20):
Heavenly Massage at Spa Helani. It includes a soothing full body massage to leave you feeling refreshed and invigorated. The Hualani product line is exclusive to our three Heavenly Spas in Hawaii (of which two are in Maui). It is scented with passion fruit and pineapple, so fresh and delicious! It provides the perfect amount of hydration to last throughout the day.
Best skin advice, spa or salon treatment and fave product for a 40 something (I know we stopped counting a decade ago):
Eye Treatments: add these on to any facial for an instant lift to the eye area. Bota-Peptide Eye Cream from GM Collins, available at Spa Helani, provides a peptide boost to your skin to tighten and fill fine lines around the eyes. I also find that it really helps with dark circles – this product is a go to for every woman’s daily routine.
Best skin advice, spa or salon treatment and fave product for a 50 and up:
Favorite treatment for 50 – Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Manicure & Pedicure at Spa Helani. Start with a tropical soak, followed by a deep exfoliation with our organic coconut lemongrass sugar scrub. Indulge in deep relaxing massage with a combination of lomi lomi and lava stones. This truly is a decadent experience. Includes nail and cuticle treatments plus polish.
Please name your most popular retail item and what it does.
Ola Hawaii’s Aftersun Remedy is one of our top sellers! It is packed with all natural healing ingredients, including noni and aloe. I use it on a weekly basis to prolong my tan and re-nourish my skin after being out in the sun over the weekend. It zaps any burning or tenderness from sunburn.
