Four Seasons Resort will host the 26th Annual Day of Hope Run/Walk on Nov. 14. The 10K Run/5K Walk–which commences at 7am–benefits cancer research and local patients. The event kicks-off along scenic Wailea Alanui and continues on the resort’s ocean front lawn and Wailea Beach throughout the morning.
The run/walk will be followed by a breakfast buffet on the ocean front lawn. Master of Ceremonies Howard “Dash” Dashefsky will preside over the morning’s events, which include a live auction featuring deluxe packages at various resorts and hotels.
Locks of Love will be on hand for those who want to cut off pony tails of 10 inches or longer that will be made into real-hair wigs for children going through cancer treatment. Those who donate their hair will be receive a haircut at The Salon at Four Seasons Resort Maui.
Activities for children include the Keiki Dash on Wailea Beach.
The event concludes with a traditional Hawaiian canoe ceremony to commemorate those who have lost their battle to cancer.
The Day of Hope is the culmination of year-around efforts of the resort’s employee volunteers. Last year, the Resort donated more than $54,000. “The Day of Hope gives us a special opportunity to join forces with the community,” said General Manager Jean Claude Wietzel. “We are proud to be part of this fight.”
Proceeds from the Day of Hope will benefit the American Cancer Society, Pacific Cancer Foundation, and Kapiolani Medical Center.
