MAUI BREWERS FESTIVAL – Sat, May 17. XAVIER RUDD – Thu, May 29. One of Australia’s most iconic voices is coming to the MACC. Rudd is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, surfer and environmental/cultural activist. He surrounds himself with an array of instruments: three didgeridoos in front of him, a guitar on his lap, a stompbox by his habitually bare feet and an assortment of drums, banjos, harmonicas, bells and bass guitar near at hand (or near at foot, as the case may be). Rudd’s songs touch on spirituality, humanity, environmentalism and the rights and mistreatment of the Aboriginal people of his homeland (he includes Australian and Canadian Aboriginal vocals in his songs).
