BEST STATE PARK
haleakala
Okay folks, here’s a breaking newsflash: Haleakala is a National Park, not a State Park. The difference? One gets federal funds and protections, the other is run by the State of Hawai’i. Think back to your fourth grade civics class, people! You must have meant Polipoli State Park, which is up there on the slopes of Haleakala. It’s Blair Witch Project country up there: rustic cabins, dark and cold forests, leaf-covered trails and spooky nights filled with chicken skin ghost stories. Haleakala National Park, Kipahulu, 248-7375
