Great choice:not only does Tony Roma’s suck, but they’re closed. You know, when I was about nine years old, I would have whole-heartedly agreed that Tony Roma’s served the best rack of ribs on Maui. But now that I’m mostly an adult, not so much. Tony Roma’s is a chow hall compared to some rib joints—Kahului Ale House, for instance. Aloha Mixed Plate makes fine ribs. So does the Pulehu Shack in Wailuku, if you don’t mind eating at home or in your car. The point is that there’s simply no excuse on Maui or anywhere else in the world to look to Tony Roma’s for ribs.
