BEST FEMALE BARTENDER
katie healy @ life,s a beach
Originally from New York, Katie’s been on Maui—and at Life’s a Beach—for three years. She says she originally planned to stay for just three months, but fell in love with the island and the freedom and creativity she’s given at Life’s a Beach. For instance, it was her and another co-worker’s idea to put out a 2005 calendar of the bar staff to raise money for the Maui Food Bank and tsunami relief (she’s Miss June). “It’s the best bartending job I’ve ever had,” she says. “When I get behind the bar, it’s like I’m hosting a party. Come one, come all, let’s have a good time.” A great many Maui residents seem to agree. Katie works Monday, Thursday and Friday nights, so be sure to stop by and congratulate her. 1913 S. Kihei Rd., 891-8010.
