BEST CHINESE FOOD
Tin Ying
This is a small restaurant tucked tightly away in Wailuku. The food here is so reasonable you may think you landed in China. Okay, Chinatown. The nondescript décor is accented by hand-made signs in Chinese offering different dishes and specials. They have all of your familiar Chinese dishes here, including noodle dishes, won tons, sweet sour stuff and the ever-popular fried rice. But those are old—get adventurous and try the whole fried fish or, even better, something you can’t even pronounce. The waitress will have fun trying to figure out what the hell you’re talking about! For the more conventional crowd, they’ve got plate lunches for under $5. 1088 Lower Main, Wailuku, 242-4371. [JR]
