What can we say, except that ‘Ulalena is a great show. Imagine the history of Hawaii and the Hawaiian people as done by Cirque du Soleil. It’s visually appealing, like that history, and also quite sad, like that history. “‘Ulalena is a wind unique to Maui, as said in the Kumulipo, an ancient Hawaiian creation chant, as well as a red-yellow colored rain revealed by the twilight,” states the show’s publicity materials. “Like a soft wind in the mist of light.” It’s been running at the Maui Theatre for more than a dozen years for a reason. 878 Front St., Lahaina; 808-856-7900; Mauitheatre.com. @apignataro
