Join breadfruit experts, growers and consumers for a unique opportunity to better understand and utilize the native crop. Guest speakers from the Breadfruit Institute of the National Tropical Botanical Garden will share their insight into harvesting techniques, tricks, tools and post-harvest handling tips. Observe basic preparation practices for use in a variety of dishes both simple and fancy, proper storage and learn how to use the entire breadfruit. Craig Elevitch of Hawai‘i Homegrown Food Network and the Ho‘oulu ka ‘Ulu project will share about those group’s latest efforts and how the crop can be economically sustainable for Hawaii.
