Oakley’s first Maui store opened with much fanfare and crowds on Friday, Nov. 16 at Whaler’s Village in Ka’anapali. The Oakley brand is synonymous with sport sunglasses and performance. They are also known for their high tech composite materials that create sunglasses that you barely feel resting on your face, allowing you to focus on your sport.
“We’re excited to be a part of the Maui community and look forward to serving those who live and play here,” said Erik Searles, Vice President of Oakley Retail. “The new Oakley store will offer the latest Oakley technology and innovations, helping sports enthusiasts in Maui excel in their performance.”
A traditional Hawaiian blessing was performed on Friday by Earl Kukahiko, and there was hula dancing, live music and pupus. Members of the Oakley Surf Team, including DK Walsh, Keala Naihe, Dustin Barca, Thomas Woods and Ian Walsh, posed for photos and signed posters.
The store boasts 1,800 square feet of Oakley’s sunglasses, backpacks, travel bags, accessories and sportswear. Beautiful displays line the store’s interior featuring their sport, active and lifestyle glasses. They have a customizable line of glasses that allow you to choose frame style and color and lens type and color.
“Kamaaina on Maui will really enjoy having their own Oakley store where they can find the latest sunglasses and athletic gear for their sport and knowledgeable associates to assist them,” says Ray Sarafian, the new store manager.
The Maui store joins more than 250 locations around the world. For more information on Oakley visit their website at Oakley.com.
