The Maui Okinawa Kenjin Kai is offering two $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors of Maui who are of Okinawan ancestry or are children of members of the Maui Okinawa Kenjin Kai.
Scholarship applications are available at all Maui high school counselors’ offices and at the Maui Okinawa Kenjin Kai office in Wailuku. The deadline for the scholarship application submission is March 31, 2017.
The Maui Okinawa Kenjin Kai is a nonprofit organization that is committed to perpetuating the Okinawan heritage, culture and arts. The Maui Okinawa Cultural Center is located at 688 Nukuwai Place, across from Sack N Save, in Wailuku. Membership is open to everyone, those whose roots are in Okinawa as well as others who are Okinawan at heart.
