Mokulele Airlines is making family travel a little easier this summer by offering a special half-off fair for keiki under the age of 12 during the month of July. The half-price discount is good at all nine airports Mokulele serves across the state; four-legged family-members of any age will continue to fly free.
“We are a local, family-owned and operated airline,” said Ron Hansen, President & CEO of Mokulele Airlines, “We want to make it affordable for families to share some great times together. I’m proud to have six kids, 11 grandkids, and three dogs as part of my family, and I know how wonderful it is to have everybody in the same place. Summer is the perfect time to do that.”
Hansen’s Goldendoodle, Teddy Bear, was the inspiration for allowing families to take pets with them on flights for no charge. “It was because of him that we started the pets fly free policy,” Hansen said. “We do not discriminate against any breed or size of dog as long as the they are well-behaved, and together with their parent meet the weight restriction of 320 pounds. Parents and puppies, or kitties, are welcome to fly in the cabin in seats four or five.”
The Mokulele family hopes the 50 percent off offer for keiki—in addition to the pet policy–will make it easier for families to get together this summer and create some lasting memories.
According to the company, Mokulele Airlines has the newest fleet of aircraft in the state. They operate between 120-150 daily flights from Honolulu International and Kalaeloa (Barbers Point) airports on Oahu; Kapalua, Kahului, and Hana airports on Maui; Kona, and Waimea airports on the Big Island, as well as Ho‘olehua and Kalaupapa airports on Mokokai.
